NCAA March Madness Predictions

It is FINALLY the best time of the year. Let the upsets and cinderella stories begin baby. Here is a little preview of some outcomes that I think are likely to happen, or at least plausible.

Teams on upset alert in the round of 64: 3 Texas Tech, 4 Gonzaga, 4 Wichita State, 4 Auburn, 5 Clemson, 6 Houston, 6 TCU, 6 Florida

Teams higher than a 3 seed that could go all the way: 8 Missouri, 6 Miami, 5 Kentucky, 5 West Virginia, 4 Arizona

Teams 10 seeded or higher that could make the sweet 16: 13 UNC Greensboro, 12 New Mexico State, 11 San Diego State, 11 UCLA

Final 4 prediction:

  • The South: the winner of Arizona vs Kentucky in the sweet 16 will win the region if they get past Virginia
  • The East: West Virginia has a relatively easy road to the final 4 if they can get past Nova, but I think they will
  • The West: North Carolina may as well be a lock to come out of the West
  • The Midwest: Kansas will face off against the winner of Duke and Michigan State. If Michigan State beats Duke, I like Kansas to win that region. But if Duke beats MSU, I think they are too big for Kansas to handle and win the region

National Champion prediction: Whoever comes out of the Midwest Region will win the tournament. I like Kansas or Duke to do it, but Michigan State is liable to go all the way as well

Cinderella story pick: Missouri Tigers

If  Mizzou wins their first game and Michael Porter Jr. plays well, this team will upset Xavier in the round of 32. They have been incredibly solid defensively and if Porter Jr. is able to produce instant offense, this team could go as far as the elite 8 where they would face North Carolina. Look for Michael Porter Jr. and the tigers to be the feel good story of the tournament.
