Is Tiger really back? Well yes, but not entirely. He has returned to a form that has not been seen in years. Finally, Tiger is in the hunt on Sundays again in many tournaments and posting scores in the mid-60’s. All that’s missing to officially declare Tiger Woods “back for good” is a win.
This most recent comeback attempt has been better to Tiger than all of his previous attempts. He appears to actually be healthy this time which could be the reason he’s finally beginning to put together solid tournaments. In his last 7 tournaments, Tiger has made every cut (which has not been the case in his previous comeback attempts). He has also placed in the top 15 in 4 of his 7 most recent outings.
Over the last 24 hours, I’ve seen Tiger’s odds to win anywhere from 22-1 to 30-1. I am not guaranteeing that this is the tournament where he breaks the internet and finally gets back to being early 2000’s Tiger Woods. But it could very well be his first win in years. A simple 15 to 25 dollar wager could pay off big time.
The keys to Tiger’s success are going to be his driver and putter. During this return, he is hitting fairways just over 50% of the time and has yet to get his putter dialed in. It is only a matter of time until he does though, and I think this is the week. In the tournaments he HAS been in contention on Sunday, he’s only been grinding it out. He hooks or slices at LEAST a couple tee shots every round it seems. If he can eliminate a couple errant tee shots and get a few extra putts to fall each round, expect to see a lot of red and a lot of fist pumps this Sunday afternoon.
